As Not for Profit, we incorporate the transition to a circular economy in all our efforts, continuously justifying the means to reach our mission. As mobility experts, we drive sustainable change with independent expertise, specialising in zero emission vehicles, energy infrastructure, and circular mobility. At Cenex Nederland, we support open sharing of knowledge in accordance with the FAIR principles, making our research Free, Accessible, Interoperable and Reusable. Together, we can shape a future where innovation meets impact, and enable a smarter and sustainable way to travel for all.
Our story
The Cenex group consists of two separate entities with offices based in the United Kingdom and the Netherlands, combining expertise and tools to deliver research and consultancy projects.
2005
Cenex
Cenex was established in 2005 as the UK’s first ‘Centre of Excellence for Low Carbon and Fuel Cell Technologies’ by the UK Government and Automotive industry to support the transition to low carbon mobility.

2018
Cenex Nederland
In 2018, Cenex Nederland was founded. While inspired by Cenex UK’s mission and part of the wider Cenex family, it operates from Amsterdam with its own Dutch legal foundation. Cenex Nederland supports public and private sectors in accelerating zero-emission mobility, energy infrastructure, and circular mobility in the Netherlands, Europe and beyond.
2021
GSMP
Cenex UK and NL are founding member of the Global Sustainable Mobility Partnership (GSMP), a network of independent, not-for-profit organisations with extensive, practical and real-world experience in implementing low and zero emission mobility. Together with the GSMP partners in USA and South Africa, Cenex has been supporting international governments with their zero emission mobility strategies and pilots.

Our events
Since 2022, Cenex Nederland has been organizing the annual Cenex Lenteborrel (Spring Drinks). Starting in 2025, the event is open to all. The event, held in Amsterdam, features keynotes, exhibitors, engaging serious games, and drinks to celebrate the arrival of Spring. It is our way to celebrate successful collaboration, look at upcoming trends together and not in the least to express gratitude to our inspiring network.
Cenex Expo is the UK’s leading event for low-carbon and connected mobility, and Cenex Nederland proudly participates each year. With free admission, speaker slots, and exhibition space available, it features vehicle demos, expert seminars, and networking opportunities at the perfect location, the UTAC Millbrook Proving Ground, one of Europe’s largest vehicle testing centers.
