- Location: Amsterdam, hybrid working
- Hours: 37 hours per week (32 hours negotiable)
- Salary: € 47,000 – € 65,000 gross per year
- Apply before: Monday 2 November 2026
Please note: this role requires professional proficiency in both Dutch and English.
The role
You will work with public and private sector organisations on the transition to zero-emission transport and more sustainable mobility. A distinctive part of the role is the opportunity to be involved across the journey of a client assignment: from understanding the initial challenge and developing a proposal, to delivering the work and discussing results with the client. Not every project will involve you at every stage, but this combination of developing opportunities and working on the substance of the resulting projects is central to the role.
You will bring your own network, expertise and ideas while drawing on the broader knowledge and experience of the team, to keep up with developments across sustainable mobility, from new technologies and market trends to changes in policy, legislation and standards. Working with colleagues across Cenex where needed, you will understand what these developments mean for individual organisations and their operational needs, and help identify, develop and deliver practical, relevant solutions.
Your tasks and responsibilities
Understand clients and develop opportunities
- Build and maintain client relationships, developing an understanding of organisations’ challenges, priorities and emerging needs. Identify where Cenex can add value and develop these opportunities.
- Develop proposals, bids and tenders with colleagues, shaping the approach, methodology, expertise and commercial proposition, and take opportunities through to agreement.
- Work with colleagues to share Cenex’s expertise with relevant audiences, contribute to external communications and events, and strengthen our profile around emerging challenges and opportunities.
Advise clients and deliver projects
- Lead or contribute to assignments, translating challenges and questions into practical insights, advice, recommendations and other high-quality deliverables.
- Manage projects and workstreams, ensuring delivery to a high standard, on time and within agreed budgets.
- Communicate and engage with clients throughout delivery, and help ensure that our work addresses their needs and delivers practical value.
Contribute to Cenex
- Contribute to Cenex’s objectives and continued development, bringing your knowledge, network and ideas to the wider team.
- Collaborate with colleagues, drawing on different areas of expertise to address client challenges and develop our services, knowledge and position in the sustainable mobility market.
What you’ll bring
- 4+ years of relevant experience in transport, mobility, energy and charging infrastructure, logistics or another relevant sector. This experience may have been gained in consultancy, industry, government or another relevant environment.
- Strong expertise in one or more of the above areas, together with sufficient breadth to engage confidently with related topics and draw on colleagues’ expertise where needed.
- 2+ years of relevant experience working directly with clients or stakeholders, with a strong ability to understand and respond to their needs and to turn promising conversations into potential new work. Experience developing new business or client relationships, and a genuine interest in this part of your work.
- A track record of developing and winning proposals that respond to client needs and provide clear, practical value, working with colleagues to shape the right approach and expertise.
- Experience taking ownership of projects or workstreams, including planning, managing delivery and maintaining client relationships.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills in Dutch and English, with professional proficiency in both languages.
- The ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with colleagues, with strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- A relevant university or applied sciences degree.
- A willingness to travel within the Netherlands and occasionally elsewhere in Europe.
- The right to work in the Netherlands on a long-term basis and the necessary documentation to travel for work across the EU.
It would be an advantage if you have
- An established network among public and/or private sector organisations in the Netherlands.
- Experience working with international clients, partners or projects.
- Experience developing longer-term client relationships and follow-on work.
