KITE

KITE

KITE (Key Infrastructure for Truck Electrification) was developed with Cenex UK under the Horizon-funded NextETRUCK project. It’s one of the free tools on cenex-tools.io, helping fleet operators and depot managers plan the switch to electric trucks: comparing Total Cost of Ownership against diesel, sizing the charging infrastructure a depot will need, building the investment case, and estimating the emission reduction it will deliver. KITE currently covers the Netherlands, UK, Germany, France, Turkey, Belgium and Spain. Follow the four steps below to see how it works.

STEP 1 · FLEETS

Define your fleet

NL · UK · DE · FR · TR · BE · ES

Set your country, number of vehicles and vehicle type – van, rigid or articulated truck – then fine-tune the operating pattern: duty cycle, daily distance, days per week, battery size, charger power and ownership period.

STEP 2 · DEPOT

Size your charging infrastructure

KITE checks how well your depot’s grid connection and charging setup match the fleet you just defined: grid connection limit, base load, smart charging, and the number and power of chargers you’ll actually need on site.

STEP 3 · FINANCE

Build the business case

Compare the Total Cost of Ownership of electric versus diesel trucks, see the investment needed for vehicles, chargers and grid upgrades, and spot which routes are already cost-competitive to electrify first – the same TCO logic behind KITE’s route-prioritisation.

STEP 4 · RESULTS

See the impact

Explore fleet, electricity and financial dashboards side by side, and calculate the emission and air-quality reduction your electrified fleet would deliver – so you can back the decision with data, not guesswork.
